Experience a wine tasting event in Castello di Cacchiano’s fascinating ancient prison.
This part of the castle dates back to the 17th century and served as dungeons to detain prisoners.
Today, it is still possible to see graffiti and inscriptions made by prisoners as they counted the passing days. Reservations are required.

THE HISTORIC AMPHORA CELLAR
WINE SHOP
The amphora cellar was a room used for storing traditional olive oil in large terracotta amphorae. The room had a sloping floor and drain in the middle to collect excess water when the amphorae were washed.
Any residual oil was recycled and used as fuel to keep oil lamps burning. This area has been renovated into the estate’s Wine Shop where guests can purchase the estate’s wines.
